Padding is read with a depth gauge on an uncompressed pair at two fixed points: the centre of the ball of the foot and the centre of the heel seat. Flex angle is the angle the forefoot reaches when the sole is bent by hand against a held heel and kept there for three seconds. Both are averaged over three pairs in size EU 38 and rounded to the nearest whole unit. The full method.

One pair of Derby Cushioned at 14 mm forefoot and 18 mm heel, one pair of 6 mm cushion insoles, and one pair of heel grips.

The derby accepts a replacement footbed up to 6 mm, so this combination is the thickest stack we can put under a forefoot from stock parts.

Fitting the 6 mm insole raises the instep. The open lacing on the derby is what takes up the volume that creates, which is why this set pairs those two parts and not others.

Care

Wipe with a dry cloth after wear. Use a neutral leather cream every eight to ten wears and let it absorb for twenty minutes before buffing. Dry away from direct heat. Full care guide.
